Chapters 1-8 Questions

Question #1: To get to know eachother in a more loving way

Question #2:an advantage is that you get payed. a disadvantage is that you have to work. Would you like to have the same job for the rest of your life?

Question #3: No because some people like being hunmiliated. What is your opinion?

Question #4:I think its harsh because what will people do to get money? I would hate it if it happened here.

Question#5: Maybe he just wants to because his religion makes him see good things about people instead of bad. People would be alot nicer than they are now.

Question #6: NO because then I would have to move out and I would have no idea what to do.

Question #7: Intellegence could be the knowledge of knowing something, and wisdom could be that you know how to do something.

1. At the end of the evening meal, each person in the community must share his feelings with the members of his family unit. What is significant about this ritual? Does your family have any rituals? If so, explain.
It's important to share their feelings with their families because if they have bad feelings, their families could help them have happy feelings. My family doesn't have a ritual, except a long time ago we did family-fun nights and that was fun.
2. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of being given a lifetime job? Your blogging buddy may have some knowledge about this topic because she probably has a job or has in the past. Ask her what she thinks are advantages and disadvantages to this type of system.
The disavantages are that you could get tired of the job, or new people could come and they could nontrustworthy. The advantages are that you sometimes are around turstworthy people and the boss could pay you good. What do think are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of system?
3. Do you think public humiliation is a good method of punishment? Why or why not? Ask your blogging buddy what her opinion is.
I say no because it can cause you to lose friends and everywhere you go people recall the accident and start laughing at you. People tell newcomers about the incident and then they don't want to be your friend. Do you think it's a good idea?
4. How would you describe release in Jonas’s community? How would you feel if release occurred in your community? What would be the pros and cons of having release?
I think it's mean. Just because you don't have a job in the community, they send you Elsewhere. The pros would be you not having to work. The cons,hmm. I don't think theres any.
5. Jonas says that it is better to talk about ways people are the same instead of different. Why do you think he feels this way? If you and all of your classmates felt this way, how would your class/classroom be different than it is now? Would people be different? How?
I think he feels that way because the way his community works. His communiy is perfect and everyone has a job (some people). Our class is already perfect, talking about that wouldn't change a bit.

6. Would you like to be considered an adult and begin training for your lifetime job at the age of 12? Explain.
Well, not really. Its makes life go faster. When your 18, your an adult, not at 12. I would like to be a kid a little longer. (after all, I'm only 11).

7. Jonas is said to have intelligence. He’s also told that he will soon gain the wisdom he needs for his job. What do you think are the differences between intelligence and wisdom? Chapter 8
Intelligence is like you got knowledge and your smart and people know your good. Wisdom is like your giving people advice. Your wise. I say wisdom goes to old people.

1. Because they get to share there feelings and learn more about each other. My family has a ritual we pray. Then we share our day with each other.
2. You don't get to pick something you like to do. One of the advantages are that you get to meet different people where you work. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages to having a life time job?
3. Yes, because you will learn your lesson. What do you think about the method?
4. I think it is kind of mean. It is kind of like being let down from a job you interviwed for. I would hate release because you don't know what you are going to do with the rest of your life.
5. I think he feels this way because he doesn't want to hurt someones feelings by saying they are different. I think the people would not get along because everybody is different.
6. No, because you get to miss out on your 12 year old life.
7. The difference between intelligence and wisdom is that wisdom is being wise and making wise decisions. Intelligence is like being smart and also making wise decisions.

Chapters 1-8 in the Giver!

  1. It helps them get to know each other better. And NO my family dosn't have a ritual. All we do is, my parents sometimes asks what we did that day. I am normally in my room anyways, so they never have time to ask.
  2. You could never give it up which is a disadvantage. And a advantage is that you could never ever get fired. What are the advantages or disadvantages of having a life time job? How do you like the system?
  3. No, because it is rude. No one likes humalition expect some people who are crazy. What is your opion?
  4. I think that it is mean becuase people need jobs to live.Plus you don't know what u will do with your life if you don't have a job. If it accured in my city. I would go crazy.

  6. No, because when you turn 12 your whole life changes. Like you are able to babysit and like when u turn 16 you get a car. Plus you would losse all the things that a child is soppose to experiance. Like the first car. ANd stuff like that.
